Scottish Trees followed a trip to Scotland to visit my fabulous friend from school, whom I hadn’tseen for over twenty years. Such a special time to be with you and meet your whole family.
The trees are long standing and bring us together after so long. Felt like I saw you only yesterday!

Working Together shows a mist that is clearing slowly as therapy was well underway. Colours were appearing from having been in the depths of destruction for a few years. I owe this one to my therapist, whose patience and strength have seen me through…..don’t know how she hasn’t throttled me yet!!

In Spirit is a soft mixture of clouds as they float and melt into one another. Their presence is steady though ever changing, representing the impermanence of all conditioned objects and all living beings. However, there is an everlasting quality which symbolises our spirit after it has experienced human occupancy, and makes it’s inbound journey back home to the universe.

Rapture led me out of the often occurring frustrations which happen when a painting comes to a seemingly dead end. No amount of pondering will take you to the next stage – you either ‘step away’ from the painting or persevere – usually both, in that order! The painting then calls you back when it is ready, and literally shows you which brushstroke goes where.

Night Sea was conceived on Bournemouth beach at around midnight in 1999, and posed as one of the pieces in my degree show. A preliminary canvas was subject to the magical atmosphere that only the ocean at night can provide. This final piece was created once back in the studio at university.
